Prototype Tour
You will be able to have a private guided tour of the Mid -America Car Inc. facility of Greater Kansas City. The facility has over 40 years’ experience in the locomotive and freight car inspection, repair, and modification industry. Among many other locomotive refurbishments, Mid-America performed the restoration of Santa Fe 5704...one of five locomotives decorated in the red, white, and blue bicentennial paint scheme. You will be able to see some of the current projects being worked on. The tour will be limited to 30 people, so please respond early to ensure a spot.

Travel to the event will be by individual vehicles... ride-sharing is encouraged. All participants must be at the hotel lobby by 9am for a 9:15am caravan departure. All participants must arrive at the Mid-America Car facility and assemble as a group by 9:45am or you will not be allowed in. Stragglers will
not be allowed in.
All participants are required to wear “full shoes”, no open-toe shoes, flip-flops, or sandals. Cameras/photos are allowed. Please don’t pick up any parts/steel pieces, etc. When walking, don’t step on any railroad rail (can be an easy slip and fall hazard). Use common sense, be careful and safe!
If you sign up and submit your payment, but you exceed the 30 max count, we will hold your check/payment, add your name to a listing of “backfill” any cancellations. If you are not admitted, your payment/check will be returned/refunded.
